How have we done?
The Marketocracy m100 Index is an aggregate of the top 100 portfolios at Marketocracy. The m100 Index has beaten the S&P 500 Index in 8 of the 11 quarters since inception, with a beta of 0.53 compared to the S&P 500's beta of 1.00.

Marketocracy has recruited over 85,000 people to manage over 100,000 model portfolios at www.marketocracy.com that compete to become the best investors. For over 3 years we have tracked, analyzed, and evaluated their virtual trading activity and have accumulated a massive database; following over 10,000 stock positions at any one time and more than ten million trades.

Marketocracy constantly analyzes and ranks the stock picking ability of our members using a complex algorithm that incorporates long and short-term performance, as well as an attribution analysis that accounts for market, sector, style, and trading contribution so that we can isolate comparative returns. We believe this eliminates much of the performance associated with "being in the right place at the right time" and helps us identify the truly best investors.

Each month Marketocracy uses our ranking methodology to select our 100 best investors. We call them the m100.

These are the investors that have demonstrated consistently superior long-term long term stock picking skill as well as shorter-term evidence that their investing style and strategy is working in today's market. We cannot see the future, but these are the 100 investors we think will generate the highest return. Of course, some will not, but our objective is to select a group of the 100 best investors whose average performance will be better than the market.

We aggregate the 100 portfolios of the m100 into the m100 Index. It is a measure of how successful we are at selecting the best 100 investors each month and meeting our objective of the group's average performance out performing the market.
